Smart Home Technology – What are the Benefits?

What’s fashionable in newly constructed homes and existing homes?  Smart home technology. But what does that really mean?  It means that home automation is a growing market, and it will likely continue to grow over time because automation helps homeowners manage and control their homes safely and efficiently.  Examples of this include Nest thermostats, Wi-Fi enabled doorbells, portable cameras, and two-way speakers.  Barn doors are another example; even though it’s more of an aesthetic element, a barn door takes up less room so there’s a smaller threshold.

More and more homeowners are making the move to electric cars, which means that we will see electric car charging stations in garages as people continue to build.  There are also smart locks which allow a homeowner to lock and unlock their door while they’re away.  For example, if you have a dog walker, you can make sure the door is unlocked at a certain time and then locked once the dog walker has left.  No more passing out your keys!

These ideas can easily come to life in your current home or if you are building a new home.  There’s so much that can be done by yourself or hiring a professional.
